How about those resolutions?
Spring is here and it’s a great time to revisit those New Year’s Resolutions you made in January. You remember; eating better, exercising more, cutting back on your spending, investing a little more, saving up for vacation, training for that marathon . . .
Each year about this time I realize that time is flying, Spring has sprung and the first financial quarter of the year is over. Spring is a time of awakening. Wether you celebrate Spring or Easter or both, this time can be used as a reminder for us to re-awaken to our dormant intentions. We can use it to remember our goals of rebirth and re-creation of ourselves that we resolved to undertake at the beginning of the year.
Spring is a time of reawakening.
Just as the Earth is waking up and the life force in dormant seeds has begun to work toward germination and sprouting this is a time when we can begin to see some changes in the areas of our life we were working on. On hikes I find myself eyeing the buds on the tips of the cottonwood branches and watching for the aspen catkins to pop open. When I am in the yard I examine the garden beds for sprouts, gauging the progress the poppies are making and searching for early signs of crocuses or daffodils.
It’s a great time to check in on those critical areas of Family, Finance, Health, Relationships and our various goals and to do lists. How are we doing? What can we see as “markers” that progress is being made in these areas or other parts of our life. Are we making decisions and taking action in the direction of our dreams? Do we need to change direction a bit, slow down or speed up? Do we need to redirect a bit more of our time or energy in a particular direction or maybe just get back on track?
Where Attention goes, Energy flows.
Take some time to check in with yourself. Keep track of your progress or your new goals. Write them down, not only does it help to see the progress, but its another way to help remind you of what your Intentions are and how your life is moving in the direction of your dreams. Remember the saying, “Where Attention goes, Energy flows.”
If you find that you’ve become distracted with other things, give those things some thought as they may be things you also desire to embody in your life and it may be a matter of prioritization and time management. If you find you have simply fallen back into habitual ways of thinking or into old routines it is an excellent time of year to recommit to your Intentions for the new and improved you.
When you are clear about your Intentions, decision making becomes easy.
Take the time to visit your Intention list as often as you can. It may be one of the first new habits you want to create. Perhaps each morning at breakfast or before be . .. or both. When you are clear about your Intentions, decision making becomes easy. By visiting your Intention list often you will find it much easier to take action and make choices which support those Intentions. With the increased frequency of these actions you will be recreating your lifestyle. Pretty soon you will find that you have replaced your old habit and routine with a new one which is moving you closer to your goals.
